I recently went to the Sanctuary (Harrison Women's Shelter) “Clothesline Project” exhibit, which focuses on women and children who have been killed as the result of domestic violence. They had these pendants for sale – broken china pendants, made by the women and their advocates. I purchased one for my best friend, and one for me, and then made identical necklaces with two strands of seed beads and a pretty pewter clasp. One strand represents my best friend, and one strand represents me.

The necklaces are a reminder that even though we've been broken and damaged, we’ve also stayed strong and beautiful. See her matching necklace.
